SCRAPPER (the "app") takes your privacy seriously. You can use the app without signing up or creating an account, and it does not collect information that directly identifies you, such as your name, email address, or phone number. This policy explains what information the app handles and how.
| Item | Where it is stored | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Photos and screenshots | On your device (on our server only if you add them to a shared stash) | Showing them inside a stash |
| Text found in photos (OCR results) | On your device (server for shared stashes) | Finding scraps later |
| Stash name, icon, and color | On your device (server for shared stashes) | Displaying your list |
| Anonymous identifier | Server | Telling members of a shared stash apart |
| Purchase records | On your device and its keychain | Keeping what you bought |
Only when you create a shared stash yourself or join one through an invite link are the photos and OCR results in that stash stored on our server (Google Firebase) and shown to the other members of that stash.
Sharing needs a way to tell members apart. For this the app automatically creates an anonymous identifier that contains no name or email.
If you wish, you can tap "Keep my stuff" to link this identifier to your Apple account. This is an optional feature for getting your purchases and shared-stash membership back on a new device; the app does not request your name or email during this step. Every feature of the app works without linking.
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Photo library | So you can pick the photos to add to a stash |
| Camera | To snap a photo and add it right away |
| Motion sensors | So scraps on screen move when you tilt or shake your phone |
You may decline any permission; the rest of the app keeps working.
Extra stash slots are purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The app does not collect or store payment details such as card numbers. Only the fact that a purchase was made is recorded on your device to keep your entitlement.
To provide sharing, the app uses Firebase by Google LLC (authentication, database, and file storage). The database is hosted in the Seoul (South Korea) region and file storage in the United States. (Firebase privacy)
The app is not directed at children under 14 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
If this policy changes, the update will be posted on this page with a new date. Important changes will also be announced in the app.
